I was hopeless with women. I went into the workshop not really knowing what to expect; I had been to similar workshops before but never really felt they worked for me. But, Robbie was really psyched about this one, so I figured I'd give it a shot...and I'm really glad I went! The biggest thing I got out of the workshop was an experience of making an emotional connection with other people. I've lived in my head my whole life, and was really surprised (in a good way) to have my first experience of a genuine emotional connection at 37 years of age. I can say it's opened a whole new world of possibility for me, and I'm really excited to be able to learn to do this on my own outside the controlled tutorial environment of the workshop. I now have a much better understanding of exactly why some guys get all the girls, and others don't...it's really not about the "dating resume" - money, success, looks, etc. It's also not about the pickup lines, or the "moves", or any of the other stuff that most of the pickup/dating workshops focus on. Instead, it's about inner confidence, and in hindsight now see that I've spent my life trying to build up my dating resume when in fact I should have been focusing on building my own inner confidence.

Brian/Robbie,
Wanted to let you know that I had improv class tonight and kicked ass. I did better than I ever did and I credit it to our session today. For months, our improv instructors would preach not to think about what to say (being present instead) and to listen and connect/feel your scene partner and respond from there. And from that, good things happen.

I intellectually understood the concept, but didn’t think I really applied it until tonight on stage. It was the same feeling I had when I did the second nice guy drill with Chelsea. Instead of trying to deflect everything she was throwing at me with that stupid sheepish grin the first time, I was able to sit there the second time and absorb what she had to say and channel that into the ground like a lightning rod and then respond from a place of being present rather than a place of thinking from the head.

Being able to recreate that on stage with improv was awesome! Now that I know what it’s like, it’s just a matter of being able to get myself into that place more easily and quickly and for longer periods of time.
